Cost-effective, affordable handsets have always been popular with pre-paid customers, not just in the US, but worldwide. That being the case, Cricket Wireless, the prepaid brand of America’s second largest wireless carrier, AT&T Mobility, has now added yet another such smartphone to its lineup. According to an official announcement from the company, the entry-level ZTE Grand X3 will now be available on the carrier’s network with immediate effect. The handset was announced at the CES trade show held earlier this month at Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be available on Cricket exclusively; at least, for the time being. The device will cost $129.99 for existing customers, and just $79.99 for those switching over to the carrier from a rival network.
The device, as mentioned already, was unveiled by the Chinese electronics giant earlier this month at CES 2016, and reportedly won an Editors’ Choice award in its category from a review website. According to Ms. Janna Ducich, vice president and chief marketing officer at Cricket Wireless, the phone offers unbeatable value at an affordable price. “Our customers don’t have to cut corners to get value – we deliver it to them every day with great services and products, like the new ZTE Grand X3″, she said through a prepared statement announcing the launch of the new smartphone on Cricket. The press release also says that the ZTE Grand X3 will be available both online as well as at retail stores today onwards.
Taking a quick look at the tech specs of the ZTE Grand X 3, the smartphone feature a 5.5” HD IPS LCD display that’s protected with Corning’s Gorilla Glass technology. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s MSM8909 Snapdragon 210 SoC, which comes with an integrated quad-core Cortex-A7 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz, along with the Adreno 304 GPU. 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage comes as standard, along with an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies and video calls. The smartphone also happens to be one of the very few entry-level handsets as of now to come with an USB Type-C port. The device comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-loaded, carries a removable Lithium Ion 3,080 mAh battery and supports LTE on bands 2, 4, 5 and 12, making it fully compatible with Cricket’s network.
