DJs Can Soon Capture Video With Altec Lansing's New Headphones

Altec Lansing makes tons of different products related to audio, from computer speakers to car audio and anything in between like personal headphones and over the ear cans. This week at CES 2016 Altec Lansing announced a new pair of wireless earbuds to go on sale later this year for $149, and today they have just unveiled a pair of new over the ear cans aimed at DJs. These aren’t just any DJ headphones though, as Altec Lansing has equipped them with the power to capture video and livestream it during shows and events, allowing them to drive the energy upward.

Much like the Freedom Earbuds, the new DVR DJ Style Headphones come in at a reasonable price tag as these upcoming cans will only cost $199. For that, DJs will get a pair of headphones equipped with a DVR camera in the same housing as the 40mm large format drivers, capable of capturing 1080p video. DJs will have the option to livestream it right then and there using the integrated WiFi or store it inside of the headphones via the 8GB of internal memory for later use. Altec Lansing has also packed in a microSD card slot for expandable memory up to 32GB, which is likely to be needed if the camera is getting plenty of use.

To make the headphones more useful, Altec Lansing is providing buyers with a way to edit any stored video with an app called Magisto which will be compatible with Android as well as other mobile platforms like iOS and Windows. With this app, any captured video can be enhanced with music, special effects and other elements quickly to make them easy to post for DJs without having to put in any effort to edit everything themselves, as the app will put everything together automatically once the components are selected by the user. In addition to the built-in camera and integrated WiFi, the DVR DJ Style Headphones will also come with a built-in rechargeable battery that Altec Lansing boasts can provide 7 hours of battery life before needing a recharge, and a TTS feature so DJs can use merely their voice to activate video recording without having to press the button on the side. The DVR DJ Style Headphones will be foldable for storage, and are expected to ship later in Q2 of 2016 and come with carrying case to keep them packed up nice and neat during travel.
