Billiards has been popular for the better part of a hundred years in some form or another, and while these days its all about Snooker and 9-Ball, the core sport remains the same. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a decent sports bar or dedicated snooker hall these days, and even harder for some to find the time to meet up with friends and sink some balls. We’ve got a mixture of apps to help you keep score and perfect your game as well as mobile games to play whenever and wherever you might be.
POOL SIMULATOR: Real 3D 8 Ball
Despite the strange naming here, Real 3D 8 Ball is a game that can deliver a pretty convincing experience at actually playing a game in real time, in 3D. It doesn’t rely on the 3D view all of the time however, and instead blends the shooting views that you’ll no doubt be familiar with from other games and mixes them together with the 3D look and feel. As a game that has a nice mix of style and substance, this is an up-to-date game worth taking a look at.
Pool Live Tour
Pool Live Tour is a sort of mix of Miniclip’s visuals with gameplay from other similar titles. There’s a similar array of different cue designs to pick and choose from as well as some simple, yet challenging mechanics. Playing online with others is much as you’d imagine, and while this doesn’t seem to be all that original, it does have a lot going for it, especially if you’re a fan of the Miniclip version, but looking for something a little different.
Snooker World
As much as I am a fan of, and can appreciate the sport of Snooker, it’s not all that glamorous when it’s translated into a video game. Snooker World hopes to bring some much-needed fun to the base sport and does so with fancy-looking tables, lots of different cue designs and of course, online multiplayer. Needless to say, this will be familiar to those looking to play a Yahoo Pool or Miniclip style game but in a Snooker setting, and it gets the job done fairly well.
Cue Tool
Cue Tool is an Android app that, sadly, hasn’t been updated in a long time. Normally, this would automatically disqualify it from of our Top 10 lists, but it’s a personal favorite of mine. Great for looking up the rules of practically any pool or snooker game, keeping score and even throwing a coin, Cue Tool is a genuinely useful app, it’s just a shame that it seems to have been abandoned by its developer.
Billiards
Billiards is a game that offers a mix of 2D and 3D perspectives in one game with attractive-looking graphics. This allows players to experience 8 and 9-ball as well as Straight pool and even Snooker, so it has most of the bases covered. With custom cloth colors and more, there’s a lot to like about this 3D, modern billiards game for Android, and it certainly seems one of the more up-to-date options.
Miniclip 8 Ball Pool
Miniclip’s 8-Ball game for Android and online has been super-popular these last few years, and it’s no wonder it’s been downloaded over 100 Million times now from the Play Store. Quality graphics, quick online games with people all over the world and a slew of different cue designs and unlockables, Miniclip has a whole lot on offer for players both casual and seriously competitive.
Pool Break 3D Billiard Snooker
This offering from Kinetic Bytes is a great game for those that enjoy using gestures on their touchscreen devices. The game uses swipes and such to make sure players can pull off different shots, and there’s a lot on offer for those looking to play a fully-3D billiards game on Android. Sadly however, it is in sore need of an update, as the last time it was updated was back in 2014. Shame.
Cue Billiard Club: 8 Ball Pool
Cue Billiard Club is an Android game that has a lot to offer those looking for a comprehensive pool game that happens to sport some pretty nice 3D graphics overall. It’s relatively up-to-date as well, and there’s a whole lot on offer, including some pretty fun trick shot games and challenges. This also allows players to experiment with smaller or larger tables and it gives them a wide variety of challenges to undergo, too.
Pool Billiards Pro
This classic option from TerranDroid has been around for some time now, and while it might not look that way, it’s regularly updated. This is definitely the game for those that want a Yahoo Pool experience on the move. It’s simple and easy to play, while offering a pretty difficult AI to play against. Great for practicing for online games as well as understanding spin, this is a neat little title to get stuck into.
Pro Snooker 3D Play 2015
This is a game for those that prefer larger tables and the Snooker side of things than quick pool games, and it’s got a lot of 3D pizzazz on offer. A great way of getting up close and personal with the cue ball, the realistic physics here bring some of the excitement of spin to your smartphone or tablet and this one is free-to-play and download, too.
