Earlier on in the month everybody got to take a closer look at Waze and how things work, as well as how Waze got its start thanks to Googlers Nat & Lo and their 20 % project videos. Today, Waze is showing off something entirely different – the new user interface design which Google is going to be introducing once Waze is updated to version 4.0 in the future. There’s no dedicated time for the launch of the Android Waze update so it could be anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. Whenever Google does decide to drop it though users, both existing and new, will be in for a treat with the new visual style and overall appearance changes with the application.
For now, there’s not really any detail regarding what new features, if any, will be included in the Waze 4.0 update, and as of this moment it looks like most of or all of the focus is going to be on bringing the app forward to a new design that makes the existing features and functions more accessible to users. Of course, it doesn’t hurt for things to look pretty either, and Google looks to be giving users a hefty dose of beautification with new animations and various other UI tweaks.
Although there are lots of little touches here and there throughout the app, it looks, at least from the screenshots that a majority of the visual updates are bits and pieces of the app which are animated. There are lots of animations it seems which is likely to be a favorite for many people especially if you’re fond of the material design style UI elements. While it may or may not be full material design, there is a heavy inspiration from the guidelines that makes itself present in this new version of Waze. You can check out the screenshots below, of which there are many, just to get a taste of what to look forward to once the app update hits devices. Things like a more visually appealing traffic flow animation and the loading bar which displays possible route complications like traffic, accidents and more whenever you initiate navigation are just a couple of examples.
