Android Auto had a pretty big year at CES this week. We saw announcements from Ford and Chrysler on their 2017 models. Pioneer and Kenwood announced new models for Android Auto. Thus doubling the number of Android Auto compatible head units from those two companies. But Harman also announced their own receiver with JBL. Using JBL’s audio, they released the JBL Legend CP100, which is a receiver for your car that supports Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay and costs $399. That effectively makes it the cheapest Android Auto head unit announced. While Pioneer and Kenwood’s all retail for over $600.
Of course, along with Android Auto, you still get AM and FM Radio. Although you don’t get as many features as Pioneer and Kenwood offer, but that also comes with the higher price. JBL and Harman are demoing the JBL Legend CP100 right now at CES 2016, and we were able to get some time with the head unit and see just how good it really is. And for $400, we were not disappointed. It features a very easy to navigate UI, to get into Android Auto. Something that is always important when it comes to using Android in the car. And it will be out later this year.
