Hands On With Sony's Life Space UX Glass Sound Speaker

CES is a convention ripe with consumer electronics spanning many different areas and coming from many different manufacturers. These OEM’s include big name brands like Sony and many of which are introducing products in the Smart Home market. Today during the first day at CES Sony showcased their Glass Sound Speaker which is part of their ‘Life Space UX’ line of products, and we were able to spend some time getting a little hands-on introduction to see what it was all about. Sony says these speakers are going to be available in Japan by Springtime while availability in the U.S. is going to be a little bit further out. Sony doesn’t mention any specific dates but they do mention sometime closer to the Summer.

Aside from carrying a rather seamless elegant design, Sony states that the Glass Sound Speaker can be fitted into any space in the home to shower the room with a warm glow of light while funneling sound through the tube-shaped organic glass build. The speaker is completely wireless allowing users to take it with them from to room to suit their tastes for the moment, all while streaming audio from a smartphone, tablet, or any other mobile device. Sony unfortunately, doesn’t have any specs listed so there’s no current detail on battery life or what the Glass Sound Speaker will cost.
