Sony has had a range of different products to show off at CES day 1 during their press conference, one of which is the Ultra Short Throw Projector. With this slim projector Sony states you can place it close to the wall so it doesn’t need to take up much space, yet it still allows you to project a picture onto the wall that reaches an image size of 147-inches. Certainly bigger than any TV, and it takes up much less room. It’s also capable of shrinking down the picture size to meet the needs of each consumer and is able to project an image size ranging from as small as 66-inches all the way up to the previously mentioned 147-inches.
The Ultra Short Throw Projector is capable of putting out images with a resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels, which is 4K, so you’ll be getting an ultra crisp, clear and sharp image anytime you decide to watch something. The image quality is also enhanced thanks to the use of a laser light source to project the images instead of using standard lamps inside the projector, which Sony states can get to their peak brightness faster than traditional lamps, and keep the color accuracy for a longer period of time. With its minimalist design it fits into basically any room, and when it’s not in use the projector folds into the aluminum/steel frame, tucked away and protected from dust and other things that could damage it, leaving a nice, flush looking piece of tech that is unobtrusive and unassuming. The Ultra Short Throw Projector will launch in Japan towards the Spring, with a U.S. launch planned within the first half of fiscal 2016, although unfortunately there is no mention of price.
