Despite the fact that sales of smartphones for HTC aren’t their strongest, the company is optimistic about 2016. Exploring new sources of revenue with their partnership with Under Armour, and their newfound love for virtual reality the company feels like 2016 could be a much better year for them. Last year they rounded out their year with the launch of the HTC One A9 (pictured above and reviewed here) and today they’re getting 2016 off to a fine start with up to 30% off of devices sold through HTC.com, although there is something of a catch here, sadly.
That catch would be that HTC is only offering up to 30% off of devices when you spend $650, 20% off of $500 and just 15% off of $150, this seems a little strange, but when you take into account the retail prices HTC is charging, those looking to buy direct will be glad of the discounts. For instance, the HTC One A9 retails for $499 at HTC.com, with 20% off it becomes a more reasonable $400 or so. Without warranty, the One A9 can be found on Amazon for around $410 or so, but the warranty is important to a lot of people. What’s worse however, is that the One M9 (the one that was launched almost a year ago now) is still being sold by HTC for $650, which becomes around $455, which is much better, but still not great. It can be found on Amazon for around $450 or so, unlocked.
Still, there are other devices that HTC is selling that are part of today’s deal, but it appears as though the discounts only really get these devices down to their street price. The discounts are only good for today as well, that’s January the 26th for those that need to check. Since HTC started selling their products directly through their own website, the Taiwanese firm was happy to report massive increases in sales direct from them, but it does appear as though there’s better value to be had elsewhere, on HTC products or otherwise. Those interested can take a look at the source link below to shop directly from HTC, and remember the deal ends at midnight PST tonight.
