At CES this week, we are already seeing a number of audio-related products coming through. Following which, JBL is next to announce the latest addition to their lineup and these follow in the footsteps of two of the company’s popular range of speakers, the JBL Clip and JBL Charge lines.
The first of the new JBL speakers to be announced is the JBL Clip 2 and as the name suggests, this is the direct follow up to the original JBL Clip which was designed to be an ultra portable speaker, while also being one which does not compromise too much on power. The new JBL Clip 2 builds on the original Clip design and once again will offer consumers a viable way to connect the speaker to various items of clothing or accessories, through the use of its improved clip-design. Not to mention, this is a speaker which is also IPX7 rated for waterproof, while also being designed to be durable and survive the knocks encountered during even the most extreme of activities. Making use of Bluetooth, the Clip 2 can remotely connect to any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet or streaming device and the rechargeable battery on offer is said to provide up to eight hours of usage in between charges. Additional features on offer include the ability to make and take hands-free calls as well as the ability to link up (daisy chain) more than one Clip 2 speakers together.
Likewise, the latest addition to the Charge family of devices, the Charge 3, also follows in the footsteps of its predecessors and looks to combine power, battery life with portability. The new Charge 3 comes equipped with a 6,000 mAh battery which is said to offer up to 15 hours of playback in between charges. It is also worth pointing out that the USB port on the Charge 3 works as a power bank and will be able to charge smartphones and tablets when attached. Connection is again offered via Bluetooth and the Charge 3 has the ability to connect to up to three smartphones and tablets at the same time, so friends can flip between songs on different devices without having to constantly connect and reconnect again. Also, like the Clip 3, the Charge 3 comes with an IPX7 rating and is protected against water encounters (including being submerged).
For those interested, the JBL Clip and JBL Charge 3 are both due to be released in the Spring. In terms of pricing, JBL has confirmed the Clip 2 will be available for $59.95 while the Charge 3 will be priced at $149.95. For those looking for that extra bit of customization, JBL has also confirmed both speakers will be available in a choice of five colors, black, grey, blue, teal and red.
