Next month, we are due for a new Galaxy S smartphone, the Galaxy S7. And we’ve already seen plenty of leaks for the device. Now we have yet another one showing off the specs of the device. This time it’s a presentation slide which shows some of the specs from the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7. Basically showing the evolution of the Galaxy S series in the last few years. What we have here is the Galaxy S7 which the slide says it has a 5.1-inch 1440p display, along with either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor or the Samsung Exynos 8890, a 12-megapixel BRITECELL camera and 4GB of RAM. Not a huge upgrade in terms of specs for the Galaxy S7, and looking at this slide, it looks like the device is largely the same compared to the Galaxy S6. Now there might well be some small changes to the design of the device, but that’s hard to tell from this leaked slide here.
Samsung’s Galaxy S launch is always one of the bigger launches of the year. Right up there with the Galaxy Note and Nexus launches. Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S7 at Mobile World Congress on February 21st at their Unpacked event. The specs listed here coincide with the specs that we’ve seen leaked numerous times before. There aren’t many surprises here just yet. However seeing Samsung go with a lower megapixel camera might be a bit surprising to some. While it might be a 12-megapixel camera, that doesn’t mean that the camera will be worse, when compared to the Galaxy S6. Cameras aren’t all about megapixels, but the optics and even software behind it. We’ll have to wait until next month to truly see how good it is.
In February, we have quite a few smartphones that are due to be announced. Including the LG G5. Samsung is also supposed to announce the Galaxy S7 Edge – which wasn’t mentioned in the slide here – along with the Galaxy S7. Similar to what the South Korean company did last year with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
