LG V10 On T-Mobile To Be Updated To Android Marshmallow

Several months have passed since Google officially released Android Marshmallow, but the OEMs and carriers have only recently started rolling out the latest and greatest major version of the world’s most popular mobile operating system to their smartphones and tablets. While HTC seems to be one of the leading tier-1 vendors taking the lead in rolling out Marshmallow to its premium devices worldwide, it now seems as if South Korean consumer electronics company, LG Electronics, is also looking to include more devices in its Marshmallow update plans. While the company hasn’t always been able to roll out updates in a timely manner, some of the premium flagships from the company have reportedly already started receiving Android 6.0 in some parts of the world, so it should only be a matter of time before the update is officially rolled out globally.

While the premium G4 and the G3 smartphones have either already started receiving the new software in certain parts of the world or are scheduled to receive it in other regions shortly, an official announcement from T-Mobile now reveals that the latest premium handset from LG, the dual-screen, triple-camera V10, is the next LG smartphone slated to receive the Android Marshmallow treatment from the 3rd largest carrier in the US. The company has already officially listed as many as 18 devices including the V10 that will be updated to Marshmallow. With the inclusion of the V10, the list now includes four LG smartphones, including the G3, the G4 and the mid-ranged G-Stylo. The company, however, has not given an ETA for the update to roll out, but mentions that the new software for the handset is in the early stages of development (Manufacturer Development in LG-speak), meaning, it may be a while before the smartphone actually sees Android 6.0.

Taking a quick glance at the tech specs of the LG V10, the device features a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) panel as its primary display, with a 2.1-inch 1040 x 160 panel as its secondary display that houses app shortcuts, etc. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 SoC, and comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage out of the box. The device features as many as three cameras, with the primary one sporting a 16-megapixel sensor. The smartphone also comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box and carries a 3,000 mAh Li-Ion battery.
