Meizu has introduced quite a couple of really compelling devices this year, and the Meizu MX5 and PRO 5 are their most notable announcements. The MX5 features a Helio X10 SoC and 3GB of RAM, and is basically the company’s yearly flagship. This China-based company managed to surprise everyone once again, and have announced an even higher-end device only a couple of months after the MX5’s announcement took place. The PRO 5 has been introduced back in September, and this handset is a truly premium handset. It’s fueled by the Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor, while it ships in both 3 and 4GB of RAM variants. It’s made out of metal, and it ships with a 5.7-inch fullHD AMOLED display.
That being said, we’ve recently seen a PRO 6 leak, but the MX6 hasn’t been mentioned thus far. Well, the Meizu MX6 specs have just surfaced in China, courtesy of AnTuTu. According to the source, the Meizu MX6 will be fueled by MediaTek’s Helio X20 (MT6797) 64-bit deca-core processor running at 1.8GHz. The phone will also pack in 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. while a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU will be included in here as well. The device will ship with a fullHD display, but we still don’t know what will its size be, and the source also claims that this smartphone will be announced later in the year, and will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with the company’s Flyme UI on top of it.
The Meizu MX5 was announced in June last year, so it was to be expected its successor will also arrive in mid-2016. The Helio X20 will be available by that time, manufacturers are actually expected to ship out devices equipped with this chip in the coming weeks. The Helio X20 is the first smartphone processor to feature a tri-cluster design, and according to latest benchmarks, this processor will be quite capable. Meizu has managed to ship out 20 million devices in 2015, which is a huge improvement compared to a year before when they shipped ‘only’ 4.4 million units. Meizu has big plans for this year, and their MX6 and PRO 6 (or whatever the company ends up naming them) are surely a big part of it.
