NVIDIA SHIELD has certainly been one of the hot products of 2015. This is largely thanks to its clear emphasis on gaming, coupled with its running on the Android TV platform. A combination which seems to work extremely well and has made the SHIELD the go-to product for those looking for the best in class specs and features on an Android TV device. That said, NVIDIA has also been making a very dedicated push with SHIELD and ensuring that the after-purchase experience is also one which is better on the SHIELD than on other Android TV devices. This has already come in the form of NVIDIA releasing a ton of SHIELD-only games for the NVIDIA SHIELD. These games are ones which have been specifically optimized to make the best use of the NVIDIA Tegra X1 processor which comes inside the SHIELD.
A couple of days ago NVIDIA announced the latest SHIELD-only game was set to arrive on January 7th. Following this announcement, January 7th is now here and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has now gone live on the Play Store. For a number of gamers, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will need little introduction. This is quite the popular PS3 and PC game and its arrival on the Android TV platform highlights the type of content which is helping to make the SHIELD (and its gaming abilities) stand out so much. Not to mention, on a wider note, emphasizes just how console-like Android TV is slowly becoming.
In terms of the download, this is a rather big file as it comes in about the 4.5GB marker, but once downloaded runs extremely well during our brief testing. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is currently priced at $14.99, which although sounds like a lot for an Android game, it is significantly cheaper than its other platform-counterparts. In fact, the $14.99 is a promotional launch price which is only set to last until the end of the month (Jan 31). After which the game will head back up to the $29.99 marker. So if you are considering making the purchase, sooner rather than later would be a good idea.
