Moto X 2014 Discounted by $50 through Jan. 26

The smartphones made by Motorola offer many customizations on their hardware thanks to the Moto Maker tool. The software offers a solid experience as well because the company uses an almost stock version of the Android operating system enhanced by some apps made by Motorola allowing users to control their smartphone with their voice among other additional functions. This also allows Motorola to update their handsets to more recent versions of the OS faster than other companies. The second-generation Moto X released in 2014 was a solid upgrade from its predecessor, as it had some of the most powerful specs back then, it featured a metallic frame surrounding the device and its back plate could be customized with different colors and materials including leather or wood.

The price of the phone has obviously decreased over time, and now, you can get it with a $50 discount until 10:59 a.m. CT of January 26. This means the price of the phone starts at $249 for the 16 GB version off-contract. Of course, you can customize it at Moto Maker, choosing from a variety of colors for the back, some accent colors for the metallic parts and the front can be black or white. If you choose a wooden back or a leather one, it costs $25 more. You can also choose the amount of internal storage, and it is important as the phone doesn’t feature expandable storage, so the one with 32 GB version will cost $50 more and the 64 GB version costs an additional $100. The 64 GB version is available as the Pure Edition only, which works with a T-Mobile or an AT&T SIM, as well as with an unlocked GSM SIM from Net 10 Wireless. This version won’t have any preinstalled software from any carrier and it could be updated faster than carrier-locked versions.

The specs of the Moto X 2014 are certainly not the most current ones, but they are still decent enough, especially at that price point. It includes a 5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, it is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 2 GB of RAM. It features a 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel one at the front.
