When it comes to Chromebooks, few companies have had the impact that Acer has. This is a company who has embraced the Chromebook market and has already brought to market a number of popular options which vary for different consumer needs from the larger Acer Chromebook 15 to the latest Chromebook C7 option, the Acer Chromebook C740. Well, with CES now here, Acer has announced the launch of a new Chromebook in the form of the new Acer Chromebook 11 (CB3-131).
In terms of the specs and following in the tradition of the C7 range of Chromebooks, the Acer Chromebook 11 CB3-131 comes equipped with an 11.6-inch display which makes use of a 1366 x 768 resolution. Moving to the inside of the device and the latest Chromebook 11 will be available in different storage and memory options. The first choice is between either a 2GB or 4GB memory variant, while the second choice comes down to internal storage with both variants on offer consisting of 16GB or 32GB storage. Both storage model will also come with the option to expand the storage thanks to the inclusion of a microSD card slot. Connectivity comes in the form of dual band 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, while physical connections will be available via the USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and HDMI ports that are on offer. Battery life is said to come in at the nine hour marker.
However, the actual specs are only one part of what is on offer with this latest Chromebook, as this is also one which looks to offer a more premium feel and comes boasting a Nano-imprinted textured aluminum cover. That is, as well as a build which is durable by design, to cater for the more portable and busy users. A Chromebook which Acer states “can handle up to 60kg of downward force on the top cover, while the corners can tolerate up to 60cm drops without damage“.
For those interested in picking up a new Acer Chromebook 11 in 2016, Acer has not yet provided firm and exact pricing for each of the models but have stated the Chromebook 11 will become available starting from $179.99 in North America while EMEA regions will see prices starting from €329. In terms of when, for both North America and EMEA, Acer has confirmed the Acer Chromebook 11 CB3-131 will be available sometime in February.
