One of the big news topics of last year was the introduction of BlackBerry to the list of manufacturers who make devices that run on the Android operating system. This joining of BlackBerry finally came to fruition in the closing months of 2015 in the form of the BlackBerry PRIV. While the notion of another Android device is not exactly big news, one of the most interesting aspects (and one of those which attracted the most debate) was the PRIV’s emphasis on making use of a BlackBerry staple, a QWERTY keyboard. Well, if you are the owner or a Samsung Galaxy S6 or its sloping partner device, the Galaxy S6 Edge and were intrigued by the use of a QWERTY keyboard, then it looks like a new accessory has now popped up offering you just that.
The SlimType is a case from One2Touch for the twin Galaxy S6 devices and one which comes with its own in-built QWERTY keyboard on the rear of the front cover of the case. There are already a number of similar Bluetooth keyboard accessories for pretty much most phones and in fact, Samsung did also announce a couple of months ago, a sort of PRIV-looking QWERTY keyboard attachment which could be attached to the front of the larger Galaxy S6 Edge+ to essentially turn it into a PRIV-looking and functioning device. Although, this was a case which did attract quite the criticisms for its general looks.
What makes this one slightly different though, is that it does not seem to require any on-board battery or means of charging to keep using. Not to mention, it does not connect with your Galaxy S6/Edge device via Bluetooth, but instead makes use of NFC to establish a connection. Users simply download the corresponding app, attach the case and are good to go.
