There is the saying ‘there is an app for everything’ and while this continually seems to be proved true with the release of new apps every week, not everything has an app. In fact, it is sometimes surprising just what sites and services have yet to release an app or at least, an Android version of their app. Reddit has always been a big talking point when it comes to an official app, although they are currently in the process of beta testing a new app which should arrive soon enough on Android. Likewise, Kickstarter, the crowd-funding platform, also does not have an official Android app. Although, today that has changed.
For those who do make use of the crowd-sourcing site to either back early ideas, monitor their own listings or who just like to see what is the latest wacky and off-kilter idea that has made it to Kickstarter, they will be happy to know that the company has now unveiled and released an official app. Generally speaking, the app seems to be exactly what you would expect from a Kickstarter app and as such, you can head through the listings and monitor campaigns you are backing and all to the beat of a Material Design based app. However, it does seem that some aspects, mainly campaign running aspects, will still have to be maintained through the site, as the functionality has not translated over to the app just yet.
Of course, what is likely to be one of the big selling features of the app is its ability to receive notifications for campaigns that you are signed up for or interesting in. Not to mention, the app also offers the ability to see what campaigns your friends, family members and contacts are also backing. Which could be a great way to find some new campaigns that you might have missed. It is also worth pointing out that as this is the first release, being so early does mean that it will likely see new features added in due course.
