Xiaomi has introduced various smartphones and smart gadgets in 2015, but they’ve also introduced a new laptop. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 was introduced back in November, and the tablet is already available in China. Well, the company’s 2nd-gen tablet is still not available in India, even though we expect Xiaomi to release this device in that Asian country soon. The original Mi Pad, however, has been available in India for a long time, and the company has now decided to discount it, read on.

This China-based company has discounted the 16GB variant of Mi Pad by Rs. 2,000 ($30), as it was announced on Xiaomi India’s official Twitter account. The Mi Pad used to cost Rs. 12,999 ($190) in India, and now costs only Rs. 10,999 ($160), and it is available both directly from Xiaomi’s official store (Mi.com), and from Flipkart. This is a great opportunity for those of you who have been looking to purchase this device in India, but do keep in mind that the Mi Pad 2’s launch is right around the corner. That being said, let’s take a look at Mi Pad’s specs, shall we.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad (1st-gen) features a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 IPS LCD display, 2GB of RAM and 16 or 64GB of internal storage, depending on the variant you opt for. The Mi Pad is fueled by Nvidia’s Tegra K1 quad-core SoC clocked at 2.2GHz, along with the ULP GeForce Kepler 192-core GPU for graphics. The 8-megapixel snapper can be found on the back of this tablet, and a 5-megapixel shooter is available up front. The 6,700mAh non-removable battery is located on the inside of this tablet, and the device ships with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box with the company’s MIUI skin on top of it. Keep in mind that you’ll be able to update this tablet as soon as you hook it up to the internet though, Xiaomi has introduced several updates since its launch. The Mi Pad measures 202 x 135.4 x 8.5mm, while it weighs 360 grams.
