Samsung Launches Galaxy Note 5 Dual SIM In India

The Galaxy Note 5 is Samsung’s flagship phablet which was launched back in August last year. This handset is, next to the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the company’s most powerful device at the moment. The Galaxy Note 5 has been available in a number of countries for months now, even though the company opted for a rather odd launch schedule. Anyhow, this Korea-based tech giant has finally introduced the dual-SIM variant fo this phablet in India, following the device’s launch in Taiwan, Malaysia and Philippines, read on.

The Galaxy Note 5 Dual SIM is completely identical to the standard variant of this phone, but it ships with two nano SIM card slots. The dual SIM phones are quite popular in India, and it will be interesting to see if the Note 5 DS will sell as well as Samsung is expecting it will. The Galaxy Note 5 features a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display along with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32 / 64GB of internal storage. This handset is fueled by the company’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 3,000mAh non-removable battery is located on the inside. Speaking of which, you also get a fast charging tech here, both wired and wireless. The 16-megapixel OIS shooter (f/1.9 aperture) is located on the back of this phablet, and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper (f/1.9 aperture) can be found up front. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with the company’s TouchWiz UI available on top of it. The Galaxy Note 5 measures 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6mm, while it weighs 171 grams.

”In the high-end segment, we saw a very strong trend of people using dual-SIMs in our A series smartphones. Consumers want a premium device, which has a local SIM and space for another SIM. We will continue doing products that will address an opportunity and we will drive the dual-SIM market in the premium segment, starting with the Note 5,” said Manu Sharma, Director of Product Marketing at Samsung India in his interview with ET. The Galaxy Note 5 Dual SIM comes in Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, and Silver Titanium color options, and it is priced at Rs. 51,400 ($760) in India. We’re talking about the 32GB variant of the device which is already available at the Samsung India eStore, the 64GB model will be available soon, and will cost Rs. 57,400 ($849).
