Samsung Said to be Creating a Galaxy A9 Pro for China

Samsung’s Galaxy A series is targeted for those looking for a solid mid-range device with premium looks and build quality. The first generation featured a metallic unibody construction and the second generation, which was unveiled last month, features a design inspired on last year’s flagship devices, built with glass on the front and back and a metallic frame holding them together. The new generation of Galaxy A devices is composed by several phones, including successors for the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A7, which got significant upgrades in most cases. The new Galaxy A series also includes the brand new Galaxy A9 with a very large screen.

The Galaxy A9 already offers very good specs, such as a 6-inch Super AMOLED Full HD display, an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot to expand it, a 13-megapixel camera on the back with OIS and LED flash plus an 8-megapixel camera on the front. The phone even includes a fingerprint scanner on the Home button and the huge 4,000 mAh battery should provide a good battery life. Now, Sam Mobile has reported that Samsung might be working on another version of the Galaxy A9. While the model number of the Galaxy A9 is SM-A9000, the model number of the new handset would be SM-A9100 and the phone might end up being named Galaxy A9 Pro.

Sam Mobile claims that they have confirmed that the firmware for the A9100 is under development. Apparently, the new device is headed for the Chinese market, but the report is scarce on any other details. Usually, “Pro” versions of handsets refer to a higher spec’d version of the regular device but based on the same hardware design. The Galaxy A9 already offers some specs that would be considered high-end, but perhaps the Galaxy A9 Pro could feature a higher-resolution display, a processor clocked at a higher speed or more internal storage. Maybe it will be released after the company unveils the new flagship models so the Galaxy A9 Pro could integrate some of the new technologies that launch with the flagships.
