Samsung Shows Off New 'Rink' Controllers For Gear VR

Samsung and Oculus have been constantly at it with bringing the best the world has to offer in the VR (Virtual Reality) space. After working years together, Samsung and Oculus, having co-developed the Samsung Gear VR, are now showing us ahead of CES what will now be their new hand controllers dubbed “Rink”. Among the many items showed just a few days ago, the controllers were the least talked about but will be one of the greatest and most essential add-ons to a most certainly anticipated VR experience. Looking like something out of a futuristic movie set hundreds of years in the future, the new “Rink” controllers give you quite a bit of functionality.

While you’re able to grab, push, point, shoot, spin, and do pretty much anything else you can think of, these controllers are sure to have Samsung Gear VR fans excited enough to perhaps buy their own, and this is exactly what Samsung wants. In the featured video, that was released on youtube from Samsung’s Newsroom, you can see in first-person what this future of technology can really do, leaving the future of possibilities literally infinite. Samsung and Oculus have only released a couple of photos of the Rink controllers other than the video that is featured, but with these we are still able to see what it could possibly be like to use the controllers as a virtual keyboard.

The Samsung Gear VR is among many Virtual Reality handsets that are trying to crash their way into consumers hands to win over virtual reality market. HTC, Sony, and even Oculus are trying to stand out among each other bringing new aspects of VR to truly call their own. Even though Samsung and Oculus are collaborating on the Gear VR, Oculus has its own design as well called the ‘Oculus Rift’ and has many versions developed, even releasing its own pair of hand controllers named ‘Touch’ due to arrive sometime in 2016, having been push back for delays. So as you can see all the big named companies are obviously working extremely hard to usher in the best of VR experience while bringing it to every home in the world. There’s no word on when these controllers will be commercialized for consumer purchase or even exactly how much they will set you back but there is a pretty good chance we will all know more in the next week.
