Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 Receives December Security Update

Samsung, in its recent attempt at keeping their devices updated with the latest of security patches, is now pushing a security patch update for the Galaxy Note 5 for the month of December. Following the same updates for their latest devices the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Samsung is really pushing forward and trying to contain viruses that are unfortunately found quite frequently in its software. Although, if Samsung does keep its devices updated as they currently are trying to do, they will find, besides happy customers, fewer viruses corrupting their devices.

In this latest security patch update which usually couples with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Samsung has improved its Voice calling as well as the overall security of the device. The update also brings over nine additional security fixes. Samsung, who is currently trying to secure their flagship phones as much as possible, has also stated that due to them updating their security policy, that users will not be able to downgrade to old software. This is no shock as more and more manufacturers are starting to follow this procedure trying to reduce the risk of malware on their phones. This also could be an underlying problem advanced users are having as they try to root or hack their phone. Although most of the features the new update will bring are quite boring to the average smartphone user all the details of Samsung’s security updates can be found on Samsung’s security mobile update page.

The firmware version N920GDDU2AOL1 will only take up 71.15 MB (megabyte) of space. Currently, the only territory the update will be seen in is India, but all other regions with the Note 5 are expected to receive the security patch over the next few days. If it is not seen within your notification pull-down window, be sure to check your software update feature within your phone. Go to your system settings menu and check under About Phone and scroll to Software Updates. This will check for the update usually pulling it up within seconds up to a couple of minutes. So just be patient. You can also install it manually or choose to use Smart Switch by connecting your Note 5 to a PC. Either way, this update is very much needed and will keep your phone shielded from all unwanted malware and viruses.
