Sling TV, which was actually announced at CES 2015, has shown off a brand new interface for the service. Sling TV is a cord-cutters version of the cable box. As it allows you to stream certain networks over the internet. There is a core package that will cost you $20/month and includes channels like TBS, TNT, ESPN, and others. There are other add-ons that are $10/month that include a Sports Package, a Kids package and a few others. There’s also a premium package that includes HBO, Showtime, and AMC for an additional $20/month. It’s a great service, and it’s getting better and better all the time.
Sling is part of Dish Network, and they have announced a brand new interface this week. The interface is set to make it easier to find shows and live sports that you might be looking for. At the top, there is navigation for My TV which are the channels you’ve favorites, then What’s on now, TV Guide, TV Shows, Sports, Movies, Search and then the Settings. This makes it easier to find what’s on TV right now, and find some TV Shows or movies that are in the on demand section of Sling TV. It’s a great looking redesign, and should help users find what they are looking to watch even quicker.
According to analysts, Sling TV has just shy of 400,000 subscribers. Having been available for almost a year now, that’s pretty good. However Sling TV has yet to publish any real numbers unfortunately. T-Mobile, Amazon and RCA are all giving out free trials of Sling TV right now, so if you’re interested in seeing what Sling TV is all about, there are plenty of ways to get a free trial and check it out. We’ve been using it since it came out last year, and absolutely love it. Being able to bring live TV with you on your smartphone or tablet is definitely amazing. And It’s only going to get better and better as more channels are added to the service. With Comcast coming out with their own version of a cloud-based on-the-go live TV, competition is definitely on its way.
