Snapchat is a pretty interesting social media app, it’s been around for a few years now and has been adding all sorts of new features. A little over a year ago, it debuted Discover, which was a way for them to bring in money by having some news outlets paying to be featured on everyone’s snapchat account, in exchange for promoting their content. It’s helped get more brands on Snapchat, but there was still an issue. How do people add each other Snapchat? There are many ways to do so already. One is searching for their user name, the other opening the app and using the camera to read the other users Snap Code, sort of like a QR code. But now we have links, that are personalized.
Now these links are not customizable, so you can’t edit them, but they do fall in line with your username. For example, our Android Headline Snapchat URL looks like this. Just adding a ‘/add/androidheadline’ to the end of Snapchat’s URL. Now whoever clicks on that link will instantly add you as a friend on Snapchat. Making it much easier than just sharing your Snap Code. If you click the link and you’re not on your smartphone, or don’t have the app installed, you’ll be directed to a page asking you to install it with links to both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
These new links for adding others are only available in the newest version of Snapchat, so make sure you update your version of the App in the Google Play Store. To get your personalized link, simply open the app, swipe down on the camera screen and tap on “Add Friends”. On that page you’ll see a number of options, along with a “Share Username” at the bottom. Tap on that and it gets your link, then pops up the Android Share menu allowing you to share it anywhere, or just copy the link. Making it easy to share that link for people to add you. This is going to come in handy for bio’s on Twitter, Facebook and other sites.
