Turn your Samsung Home Button into a Capacitive with easyHome

If you have one of Samsung’s newer smartphones released in 2016 – the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ or the Galaxy Note 5 – this new app is pretty interesting. Samsung loves using its physical home button on their devices, but not everyone wants a physical button for one reason or another. Samsung has also built their fingerprint sensor into the home button of theses four devices (as well as the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 the year before). And now with easyHome, you can use your Samsung Home button like it was a capacitive button. By just touching the button instead of pressing down and hearing the click.

There’s not a whole lot of settings here with the easyHome for Samsung app. You install it and you’re done basically. Now you can just touch the button and it’ll take you home. Of course, a long press will allow you to lock the smartphone or open the camera, something you can decide in the settings of the app. Making things pretty simple. There is also haptic feedback there for you, which is something we all like to have, especially when we are using capacitive or even on-screen buttons. It helps us to know that we actually touched the button and that it registered. The developer also says that there are no ads in easyHome for Samsung, always nice to see. While ads do help pay the bills for the developer, some of them can be very intrusive.

While the developer lists the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5 as working with easyHome. He also notes that other Samsung devices with a fingerprint sensor should also work. Including the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 from 2014. Additionally, the app is based on the Samsung SDK. So he also notes that not all bugs will be fixable, however he will try his best to fix them up. The easyHome for Samsung app is free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases, and you can pick up the app from the Google Play Store today.
