Since we store all sorts of personal information in our mobile devices, it is very important to keep them secured. Many users make the mistake of using passwords that can be guessed quite easily or they use the same password for all of their accounts. One solution is to get a password manager, as it helps users to create secure passwords without needing to remember each of them. 1Password is a popular solution available for many platforms, Android included, so it can sync information between them and it includes some encryption features. Last month, the Beta version of the app received a major update, so now all of those changes are available in the stable version as well.
First of all, there’s a major overhaul in the user interface of 1Password 6, as it now features Material Design elements making it look cleaner and more spacious. The app will work in a more consistent and convenient way as it features a navigation drawer and toolbars. Another big addition is the new fingerprint unlock feature, so users can use their finger to access the app in a secure way. Fingerprint scanner support is available on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, so users can take advantage of it in 1Password 6 (provided their phone includes a fingerprint scanner). The 1Password for Teams allows users to selectively share information, but that feature is still in Beta, so those interested will have to join the beta program and have a device running Android 5.0 or a newer version.
Some other changes included in the updated version of 1Password are the new support for fingerprint scanner which can also be used in the 1Password Keyboard, some improvements to the Wi-Fi sync feature were made, the toolbar is available everywhere so it can be used whenever it’s needed and there’s a new floating icon to add new items, actually, all of the icons were refreshed to look more modern and cleaner. 1Password 6 for Android is free to download and it offers a one-time in-app purchase to unlock all the premium features such as creating new passwords, edit existing items and mark the most used ones as Favorites.
