When Amazon announced the Amazon Echo, a Bluetooth-enabled speaker, back in 2014, one of the most interesting aspects was its digital personal assistant called Alexa. At first, users could ask Alexa to play some music from various services, get answers about several topics, and get information about traffic or the weather, all of this using their voice. Since then, Alexa has been getting new capabilities, now it can read your entire library of books on your Kindle collection, get local business recommendations based on Yelp, play Jeopardy or even control select smart home devices. Alexa is prominently featured in Amazon’s first Super Bowl commercial and just in time for the Big Game, a new feature has now been added.
Domino’s Pizza is always looking for ways to make it easier and more convenient to order food from one of their restaurants. Users can currently place their orders from many platforms including Twitter, text messages, smart TVs, smartwatches, cars, and their mobile app, there is even an option to order with their voice or an emoji, and now they are bringing their service to the Amazon Echo. Starting today, users will be able to track their orders with Domino’s Tracker as well as ordering their most recent order using Easy Order from the comfort of their couch with voice commands such as “Alexa, open Domino’s and place my Easy Order” or “Alexa, ask Domino’s to track my order.” Rob Pulciani, director, Amazon Alexa said: “We’ve made it easy for companies like Domino’s to use the Alexa Skills Kit to create more natural, intuitive ways for customers to interact with their services”.
From the companion Alexa App, users can link this account with their Domino’s Pizza Profile, which will allow them to enable the Domino’s skill that is necessary to place an Easy Order or most recent order. To track an order, users just need to enter the phone number associated with their order and they will hear about its current status from Alexa. This Sunday is one of the busiest days for Dominos, as they expect to deliver up to 5 times the amount of slices that they would on a typical Sunday and this new convenient way to order might just make it easier.
