In addition to ordering an Uber for you, Alexa can also give you updates on how far your Uber is from you. Simply by saying “Alexa, how far away is my Uber” and she’ll let you know how much longer until your ride arrives. To celebrate this new feature and integration, Uber is offering $15 off of your first ride if you sign up using 15Alexa. Depending on how far you’re going, that $15 can pay for your entire ride, or at least a good chunk of it.
This new feature makes things great for when you are packing at the last minute to head to the airport and you need an Uber to take you to the airport. This way you don’t need to pick up your phone to order your Uber, just use your voice. Great for multi-tasking. The Amazon Echo continues to get better and better, every day. It already has integrations with Philips Hue, Belkin WeMo, IFTTT and more. IFTTT is great because you can automate a good number of items through Alexa, as well as other integrations with the Amazon Echo. Making your life a bit easier in the long run. The Amazon Echo costs $179 on Amazon and is now open to everyone, however you can buy it for $36 a month for 5 months as well, if you decide you don’t want to spend $179 on it right now. It’ll be interesting to see what Amazon adds next to the Echo, perhaps the ability to get you coffee in the morning.
