Samsung has introduced four flagship devices last year, two flagship smartphones, and two flagship phablets. Well, the Galaxy Note 5 is, arguably, the most powerful one. Samsung’s flagship phablet has been available out in the market for quite some time now, and originally shipped with Android Lollipop. Well, Samsung has utilized Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta testers for their Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones recently, and now the same thing happened for the Galaxy Note 5, read on.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update seems to be rolling out to some AT&T variants of the Galaxy Note 5 in the US. The company has picked 200 users which own the device, and decided to kick off beta testing for those units. Users received e-mails with instructions on how to update to the beta version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and are now receiving the update. Now, keep in mind that this is SM-N920A variant of the Galaxy Note 5 we’re talking about here, and the update build number is MMB29K.N920AUCU2BPB1, while the kernel build date is February 2nd, 2016. The update itself is 1,355.94MB big, and it also comes with a February Android security patch. There are some differences between this variant of TouchWiz, and the one you can find on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge units, but the general look and feel is not different, of course.
That being said, we don’t have any specific details as to what this update brings to the table that is specific to the Galaxy Note 5, but we’re sure that new info will surface soon. As a reminder, the Galaxy Note 5 is a 5.7-inch phablet which ships with a QHD panel, and 4GB of RAM. The device also comes with Samsung’s S Pen stylus, which has probably received some new features in this update we’ll hear about soon. The Galaxy Note 5 also packs in a 16-megapixel OIS camera on the back, and is made out of metal and glass, like every other Samsung-branded flagship released last year.
