Cellular Samsung Gear S2 Classic Available March 11 In The U.S.

Samsung made quite the impact when they released their latest smartwatch in the form of the Gear S2 Classic. This was a smartwatch which greatly departed from the company’s previous smartwatch form factors by adopting a round display. Not to mention, Samsung also announced additional versions of the smartwatch including a 3G Model as well as rose gold and platinum variants as well. Well, following on from the 3G cellular point, Samsung did today announce the launch of their Gear S2 Classic 3G/4G, one which comes sporting a GSMA compliant e-SIM.

For those new to e-SIMs, these are essentially, SIMs which come as part of the device and not requiring the end user to physically insert a SIM card to make use of a standalone or cellular service. Besides being better sized to fit such small wearables, the other added benefit of an e-SIM is that the end user will not have to swap out SIM cards when changing carriers. While Samsung did announce the latest e-SIM version, there were few details on where or where or when you could pick up the latest standalone smartwatch from Samsung. Following on from that initial announcement, Samsung has now released word confirming the availability of the Samsung Gear S2 classic 3G/4G.

Samsung has now confirmed that the Gear S2 Classic 3G/4G will be available from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon in the U.S. and starting from Friday March 11th. While the main announcement from Samsung did not provide details on pricing and simply stated that carriers will provide this information individually, T-Mobile has already confirmed that they will be stocking the smartwatch from March 11th and priced outright at $399.99. T-Mobile will also be offering customers the option to pick the smartwatch up for for $0 down and with 24 monthly payments of about $16.67. Either way, if you have been waiting for the chance to pick up the standalone cellular variant of the Gear S2 Classic with an e-SIM, then providing it is through AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon, March 11 looks to be the date when you will be able to.
