HTC Unveils Desire 626 Dual-SIM In India, Costs $221

HTC has published their Q4 2015 financial results the other day, and things certainly don’t look good for this Taiwan-based company. HTC was once the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and today they’re barely getting by. The company has been having financial issues for a long time, and it seems like things are getting worse. HTC is expected to announce their One M10 flagship in the coming weeks, and they’ve introduced One A9 and One X9 smartphones in the last couple of months.

That being said, the company’s mid-range ‘Desire’ line is still around, and HTC actually tends to release quite a few of these ‘Desire’ phones every year. Well, a new Desire-branded smartphone has been announced in India today, the Desire 626. This smartphone sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via a microSD card up to 32GB). MediaTek’s MT6752 64-bit octa-core processor fuels this phone, and a 2,000mAh battery is available on the inside. The 13-megapixel shooter (f/2.2 aperture, BSI sensor) is available on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel snapper (BSI sensor) can be found up front. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with HTC’s Sense UI installed on top of it. The Desire 626 also offers two SIM card slots, while it measures 146.9 x 70.9 x 19mm, and weighs 135 grams.

“Our customers are gradually looking for stylish 4G LTE enabled smartphones with faster processors, network speeds and outstanding battery life. They are creating and consuming rich video content and want greater freedom to personalise their smartphones. We know they love the flexibility that comes with expandable memory. At a remarkable price, the HTC Desire 626 Dual SIM delivers the distinctive features with an outstanding user experience in a sleek, chic, slim package,” said Faisal Siddiqui, President of HTC South Asia. Now, Mr. Siddiqui mentions a ‘remarkable price’, speaking of which, this phone costs Rs. 14,990 ($221) in India, and it will be available in Blue Lagoon and White Birch color options. We’ll let you be the judge whether this is a fair price for this smartphone, but if you’re interested, you can expect this phone to become available in the coming weeks through more or less every major retailer in the country.
