Leaked Mi 5 Slides Are Fake, Some Info Is Accurate Though

Xiaomi Mi 5 is one fo the most anticipated smartphone of the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The Mi 5 details have been leaking out for quite some time now, and the alleged Xiaomi presentation slides leaked recently, showing off the phone’s specs. Well, it seems like those slides are actually fake, at least according to the latest report. Let’s see what’s what, shall we.

These slides are fake according to Xiaomi staff who have said so via Weibo (Chinese social network). It seems like several members of Xiaomi staff reported that the slides are actually fake, but that some info on the slides is actually accurate. Now, they didn’t talk about anything in specific, of course, but we do guess that the camera info is fake. The slides reported that the Mi 5 will ship with a 26-megapixel OIS camera (f/1.6 aperture), which seemed unrealistic from the get-go. The device will, quite probably, sport a 16-megapixel rear-facing snapper. The rest of the details revealed by the slides actually seem quite probable, at least as far as the specs go. The company / company’s officials have already confirmed that the Mi 5 will ship with a fullHD display, NFC, two SIM card slots, and that it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC. On top of all that, the slides said that the device will ship in 3GB of RAM (+32GB of internal storage), and 4GB of RAM (+64GB of internal storage) variants. The microSD card expansion will be available in both of these models, and a 2,910mAh battery has also been mentioned. The fullHD display will, allegedly, going to be 5.2-inches big, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the Mi 5 with the company’s MIUI OS available on top of it. The phone will offer Qualcomm’s 3.0 Fast Charging, and will measures 144.3 x 70.2 x 6.35mm, according to the leaked slides.

So, it seems like the presentation slides aren’t exactly official, but some info is actually accurate. We’d argue that most of the info shared by those slides is spot on, but we’ll see. The device will be announced on February 24th both in Beijing and Barcelona, and we’ll make sure to let you know if any additional info surfaces before that, stay tuned.
