Lenovo is one of the largest China-based tech companies at the moment. This company has a huge presence in both China and India, but they sell their products all over the world. Lenovo released quite a few interesting smartphones last year, and their mid-range line of devices turned out to be the most successful one. That being said, Lenovo is, like many other tech companies, decided to participate in Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Lenovo has decided to announce quite a few products during the show, and amongst them are two new smartphones we’re here to talk about, read on.
The company has introduced the Lenovo Vibe K5 and K5 Plus smartphones, which belong to their mid-range ‘Vibe’ lineup of devices. These two phones are identical in terms of the design, but the K5 Plus offers better specs. Anyhow, let’s see what they have to offer in terms of specifications, shall we. Both devices sport 5-inch displays, but those panels feature different resolution. The Vibe K5 comes with a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, while the Vibe K5 Plus sports a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) panel. The Vibe K5 is fueled by the Snapdragon 415 64-bit octa-core SoC, while the Snapdragon 616 64-bit octa-core chip fuels the Vibe K5 Plus. The rest of the specs are pretty much identical on both devices. The 13-megapixel camera (5P lens) is placed on the back of these devices, while you’ll find a 5-megapixel snapper (4P lens) up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes out of the box here, and on top of it, you’ll find Lenovo’s custom UI. The 2,750mAh battery is located on the inside, and is user replaceable, which is always nice to see. Both of these phones feature 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM on the inside, along with 16GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card). As far as the GPU is concerned, you’ll find an Adreno 405 on the inside of both of these phones, as it is included with both Snapdragon 415 and 615 SoCs. Two SIM card slots are available in both the Vibe K5 and K5 Plus, and same goes for 4G LTE connectivity and Bluetooth 4.1. Both the Lenovo Vibe K5 and K5 Plus are 8.2mm thick, and weight 142 grams.
As far as sound is concerned, you’ll be glad to hear that Dolby Atmos support is included in these two Lenovo-branded devices as well. Both of these devices will be available in Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold and Graphite Gray color variants, and will become available for purchase next month. The Vibe K5 is priced at $129, while the K5 Plus costs $149. As soon as the company releases more info regarding availability, we’ll let you know.
