Gionee is a rather well-known China-based smartphone manufacturer. This company became quite popular when they released the Gionee Elife S5.1, which was, at the time, the world’s thinnest smartphone. Gionee has introduced quite a few devices since then, and their Elife E8 flagship phablet is definitely the most powerful handset they’ve released to date. Gionee has also introduced quite a few Marathon-branded devices last year, and a new Gionee-branded phone has just been introduced in India, read on.
The phone in question is Gionee S6, a device which was originally introduced back in November. This is a very well-specced mid-ranger made out of metal. The Gionee S6 features a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. The phone also pack 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage on the inside, while its storage is expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. The 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of the Gionee S6, while a 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. This handset is fueled by MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor, and a 3,150mAh battery can be found on the inside, and it is not removable. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here, with Gionee’s Amigo 3.1 UI on top of it. This is a dual-SIM handset which offers 4G LTE connectivity. The Gionee S6 measures 151.9 x 74.6 x 6.9mm, while it weighs 148 grams. The USB Type-C port is placed on the bottom fo this phone, and that’s where its loud speaker is located as well.
The Gionee S6 features three capacitive buttons below the display, overview, home and back. This phone’s bezels are quite thin all around, and the device is already available for purchase through Flipkart in India. The Gionee S6 is currently available in Silver, Rose Gold and Gold color options, while it is priced at Rs. 19,999.
