Android TV continues to be a platform which is expanding, albeit at a slower rate compared to other industries. That said, it is still an expanding platform with new apps and features coming through and leading to a greater level of content for the end user. The manufacturing side of Android TV is also an area which is seeing gradual but consistent expansion with an increased number of manufacturers confirming their intention to bring to market an Android TV running device. One of the companies who were part of the original wave of manufacturers committed to the Android TV platform was TP Vision.
While TP Vision might be an unfamiliar company to some consumers, this is the company who makes and brings to market Philips TV sets and they have already confirmed an increase in the number of TV sets which will come from the brand with Android TV software built-in. Today, TeamViewer announced via a press release that they have agreed a partnership with TP Vision to bring their TeamViewer QuickSupport Android app to Philips Android TV sets going forward.
TeamViewer QuickSupport is an app which allows the user to connect and control an Android device remotely from a PC. Once the app is installed on an Android device and the device is connected to the PC side of TeamViewer, the PC is then able to gain access to the Android device, see its general status, remotely control the device, share screens, take screenshots and so on. Following today’s announcement, all Philips Android TV devices will come with the TeamViewer QickSupport app as a pre-installed app. A move which TeamViewer states will offer Philips Android TV owners a greater ability to control and use their TV. For owners of other Android TV devices who would like to check out the app, this is an app which can be downloaded from the Play Store and installed on your Android TV device, as the app already offers support for a number of built-in and standalone Android TV options.
