Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, and Note 5 are quite probably the company’s best-known devices at the moment. These are all flagship smartphones, but the company manufactures low and mid-range devices as well, as you already know, and the ‘Galaxy A’ series of smartphones is basically their mid-range line of devices. The company has introduced three 2nd-gen Galaxy A devices back in December last year, the Galaxy A3, A5, and A7. These three phones have been available in select markets for a while now, but they haven’t been available in India, until now.
Samsung has now, finally, released two out of three ‘Galaxy A’ devices in India. This Korea-based tech giant has opted to release the 2nd-gen Galaxy A5 and A7 in India, while the A3 is nowhere to be found. In terms of specs, the Galaxy A7 is significantly more powerful than the Galaxy A5, but they’re both mid-ranger. The Galaxy A5 (2016) features a 5.2-inch fullHD Super AMOLED display, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The phone is fueled by an octa-core SoC clocked at 1.6GHz, and a 2,900mAh battery is placed on the inside. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes out of the box here, and we’re looking at 13 and 5-megapixel cameras on this phone’s back and front, respectively. The Galaxy A7, on the other hand, ships with a 5.5-inch fullHD super AMOLED panel, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. This phone is also fueled by an octa-core chip running at 1.6GHz, and it features a 3,300mAh battery on the inside. The 13 and 5-megapixel camera sensors are available here as well, and the phone also ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI installed on top of it. It is also worth mentioning that both of these phones feature a fingerprint scanner as well.
“At Samsung, we are committed to continued innovation, inspired by the deep understanding & insights from our wide range of consumers. Continuing the A series legacy in India, the Galaxy A7 (2016) and the Galaxy A5 (2016) come with a stunning Glass & Metal design and Flagship like features such as enhanced camera with OIS, long lasting battery with fast charging capability and a powerful Octa-Core processor that can tackle heavy usage, making this product “The New Flaunt” in town,” said Manu Sharma, Director of Mobile at Samsung India. That being said, the 2nd-gen Galaxy A5 and A7 handsets will be available in Gold, Black and White color options for Rs. 29,400 ($433) and Rs. 33,400 ($492), respectively. The two phones will be available exclusively from Snapdeal starting from February 15th, and both of them come with a bundled offer of 30GB data for 6 months, for Airtel consumers only though. The two devices will be available in retail stores as well.
