Sony Shows Off Xperia Eye Camera Concept At MWC 2016

Sony is, like many other tech companies, currently present at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Following LG, Huawei and Samsung which have announced new devices yesterday, Sony’s press conference was scheduled for today. The company has actually introduced quite a few new devices in Barcelona, including two Xperia X smartphones, and a number of concept accessories, some of which are rather interesting, like the Xperia Projector we’ve talked about recently.

That being said, we’re here to take a look at one of those concept accessories, the Xperia Eye camera. The Xperia Eye is an ultra compact, wide-angle camera which you can wear on your clothes if you like. Sony actually plans to include quite a powerful imaging technology in this camera, according to the company, and keep the device quite small at the same time. This camera features a 360-degree spherical lens, and it sports an intelligent shutter technology which can use facial and voice detection in order to capture images. The Xperia Eye was introduced as a concept product, next to the Xperia Projector and Xperia Agent. Sony was scarce on details when it comes to all these devices actually, they did talk about Xperia Eye in general, but the info we shared with you is basically everything Sony opted to share. We don’t know when will this device going to be announced, nor how much will it cost once it reaches the market.

Sony did showcase the device though, and if you’re interested in checking out its design, take a look at the gallery down below. As you can see, this camera is quite small, you can basically attach it to your shirt’s collar without a problem. We do expect Sony to share more info when it comes to Xperia Projector, Xperia Agent and Xperia Eye later this year, we’ll hopefully get the release date and spec info when it comes to the Xperia Eye. That is pretty much it, Sony seems to be working on quite a few side projects considering their smartphone sales aren’t exactly booming at the moment, it will be interesting to see what will Sony announce by the end of this year, stay tuned.
