When it comes to Android TV, the NVIDIA SHIELD is quickly establishing itself as the go-to device. This is even more apparent for those who want to take advantage of the gaming possibilities of the platform. Part of the reason for the popularity of the NVIDIA SHIELD is its ability to offer Android TV consumers a more varied gaming experience. As well as the standard Android games from the Google Play Store, the SHIELD also brings with it other avenues of gaming including both PC games and the company’s own in-house service known as GeForce NOW.
In terms of the latter, this is NVIDIA’s streaming service which allows SHIELD owners the option to pay a monthly fee and gain unlimited access to a variety of game titles. A variety which is continually expanding as time goes on. In fact, NVIDIA has today announced that the latest publisher to bring their content to GeForce NOW is Square Enix. The first game offering to come through is the 2013 edition of Tomb Raider, which goes live from today for users of the steaming service. While Tomb Raider marks the debut of the coloration, it has already been confirmed that a number of other titles are due to be released for the SHIELD. The next four titles set to arrive will include Sleeping Dogs, Lara Croft Guardian of the Light, Quantum Conundrum and Murdered Soul Suspect. Specific dates on when these titles will become available was not provided, although they are set to be released throughout the year.
If you have yet to check GeForce NOW out, the service is available to all owners of NVIDIA SHIELD and currently costs $7.99 per month on a no-commitment basis. As well as the access to the selection of subscription SHIELD games, GeForce NOW also makes available a number of straight to purchase game titles which once purchased can be streamed online, as well as downloaded and played locally. Those interested in checking out GeForce NOW and Tomb Raider can actually take advantage of a free three month trial period before having to begin paying the $7.99 monthly price.
