Samsung’s newly-launched flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, have created quite a stir in the media and among tech enthusiasts worldwide, but nothing could have possibly prepared one for the results of a recent survey, which probably best illustrates the times we live in, conspicuous consumption and all. According to a nationwide survey done by UK-based website CompareMyMobile, more than half of all respondents are so enamored with Samsung’s latest gadget that they would rather get the Galaxy S7 than have a boyfriend or girlfriend. Thankfully though, almost four out of five respondents (78 percent to be precise) were still level-headed enough to say that wouldn’t ditch their current partners for the latest and greatest from the house of Samsung.
Almost as many people (74 percent) also said that they’d rather have a new car than the brand new Samsung smartphone, and 83 percent (sensibly) decided that they’d rather get the Galaxy S7 rather than spend money on a hoverboard. Both of which makes sense for so many different reasons, not the least of which is safety (in case of the hoverboard, that is). Although smartphones have previously been reported to catch fire without provocation, such claims have often been rebuffed by experts, and in any case, they are not remotely as likely to burst into flames as those hoverboards, many of which have been reported from various parts of the world for being giant fire hazards masquerading as must-have toys for teens and tweens alike.
Meanwhile, the spate of unexpected replies continued with a couple more questions, with as many as 65 percent of respondents admitting that they’d want a Galaxy S7 more than a puppy. Another takeaway from the fun survey is that while Netflix recently announced its expansion to over a hundred new markets at the CES trade show in Las Vegas, NV last month, not everybody is apparently a fan of the streaming video service. A whopping 73 percent said that they’d decline a lifetime unlimited Netflix subscription if they can just get their hands on the Galaxy S7 – a smartphone that will become so-last-season the moment the Galaxy S8 comes along next year – actually, even before that if you include the Galaxy Note 6 that is slated to launch later this year.
