The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are now finally official. Samsung unveiled the two devices yesterday at an event in Barcelona – which was primarily geared at VR, as every member of the media had a Gear VR on their chair. The Galaxy S7 saw some improvements over the Galaxy S6 last year which debuted the company’s new design language. The Galaxy S7 still features a glass back and aluminum frame, however they did bring back the microSD card slot. Additionally, they brought back the IP68 waterproofing, which was present on the Galaxy S5, but gone on the Galaxy S6. We know that the Galaxy S7 is coming to all four US carriers, and today T-Mobile released a video of them unboxing the Galaxy S7 completely underwater.
In the video, it’s a little tough to understand Des, but that’s pretty understandable since he is underwater. The video shows us that the Galaxy S7 comes with headphones – something we don’t see often these days with flagship smartphones – as well as your T-Mobile SIM card, micro USB cable and wall adapter. Remember that the Galaxy S7 features a micro USB port and not a USB Type-C port. Of course, there is also the usual paperwork included in the box. It’s a quick video, about 2 minutes long, and is a pretty cool way to unbox the Galaxy S7 that’ll be available real soon.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 are already available in some countries. Here in the US, pre-orders are starting on February 23rd at 8am ET. That is for all four US carriers too – T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. So if you’ve been wanting to get your hands on the new Galaxy S7 you won’t have to wait long. Since the pre-orders start tomorrow, availability will begin on March 11th worldwide. That’s just under 3 weeks from the day that the devices were announced by Samsung. The Galaxy S7 also features a Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB of RAM, 5.1-inch 2560×1440 resolution display and a large 3,000mAh battery in addition to the IP68 waterproofing mentioned above. The US, unfortunately, is only getting the 32GB model, but that’s fine since we have a microSD card slot in the Galaxy S7.
