For those of you that own the HTC One A9 and are wanting to root it, well you’re in luck. Team Win Recovery Project, otherwise known as TWRP, has finally released their recovery for the HTC One A9 – as well as the Samsung Galaxy Trend. With TWRP you’ll be able to make nandroid backups, flash new ROMs, kernels and so much more. The Galaxy Trend is a pretty cheap smartphone from Samsung, and is actually no longer supported by the company. It was announced back in early 2013, making the device nearly 3 years old now. So this is great news for those that still have the Galaxy Trend. As you’ll be able to flash a custom ROM onto the device and perhaps breathe new life into it.
The HTC One A9 is only a few months old, and was also the first smartphone to launch with Android 6.0 Marshmallow installed – other than the Nexus line of devices. HTC has promised updates to the unlocked HTC One A9 within 15 days of the source code hitting AOSP (Android Open Source Project), and so far they have delivered. At least with the security updates that have come along. However, for those that do own the HTC One A9, it might be worth it to root the device and then flash a ROM or even use Xposed to get rid of some of HTC’s UI elements that you don’t like. While the One A9 is running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it is also still running on Sense 7. Which not everyone is a fan of.
TWRP is one of the more popular custom recoveries out there. For a while, everyone was using Koush’s ClockworkMod recovery, which worked pretty well. TWRP has all sorts of newer features, including the ability to use their app to have your phone reboot and make a nandroid backup of the device. Making it much easier to keep everything up to date and backed up, in case you do happen to run into an issue and need to go back to your backup of your device.
