Zopo Speed 8 Is Official, World's First Deca-Core Smartphone

Zopo is one of many China-based companies’s we’ve talked about in the last year or so. This company did not release that many smartphones thus far, but they’ve introduced two rather interesting ones last year. The Zopo Speed 7 and Speed 7 Plus have managed to surprise our resident editor, and turned out to be really compelling devices, especially for the given price. Well, Zopo has been teasing their new Speed 8 flagship for quite some time now, and the device has finally been unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, read on.

The Zopo Speed 8 is actually the first deca-core smartphone in the world. This smartphone is fueled by MediaTek’s Helio X20 64-bit deca-core processor which has been announced quite a while ago. The Speed 8 sports a metallic frame, and you’ll find 4GB of RAM on the inside, along with 32GB of internal storage. The Helio X20 SoC aka MT6797, is made on a 20nm architecture, and ships with the ARM Mali-T880 MP4 GPU running at 700MHz. The phone sports a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display up front, and you’ll find a 3,600mAh battery (fast charging included) on the inside. The 21-megapixel snapper (Sony’s IMX230 sensor, f/2.2 aperture) is located on the back of this smartphone, and an 8-megapixel shooter (OV8856 sensor, f/2.0 aperture) can be found up front. Keep in mind that the dual-LED flash is available both on the front, and back side of this smartphone. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on this smartphone with some additions by Zopo of course. 4G LTE connectivity (both FDD-LTE and TD-LTE) is available here as well. The fingerprint scanner is also a part of this package, and it is located on the back of the device. The Type-C USB port is placed on the bottom of this phone, and NFC is also included.

Both the power / lock and volume rocker buttons are placed on the right side of the Zopo Speed 8, and a SIM tray slot is available on its left-hand side. The black and white color variants of this phone are currently available, and you can take a closer look at both of them by checking out the gallery down below. We still don’t know how much this phone will cost, but that info will probably going to be revealed soon.
