Cars, 4K TVs & Smartphones To Be Won In Sprint's Sweepstakes

Earlier this year, RootMetrics had announced its latest “RootScore’ report covering the second half of last year. While the CEO of T-Mobile, Mr. John Legere, was beside himself at the perceived pro-Verizon bias of RootMetrics, Sprint seems to taken a liking to the results. That’s understandable, seeing as the carrier is reported to have made several improvements over its earlier results, when it consistently lagged behind the three other major carriers in most of the categories. However, this time around, much to the delight of Sprint, RootMetrics has pointed out that the carrier has significantly improved its call and data reliability in metro areas and also improved its median download speeds in several metro markets.

All of that is a cause for celebration at Sprint and the carrier is now doing just that, by giving its customers the chance to win a number of prizes as part of its “Across the Nation Celebration” sweepstakes. The contest will remain open until April 6th, and the list of prizes will change each week. The prizes for this week include a couple of new Samsung products, including the newly-launched Galaxy S7 smartphone and a 65-inch SUHD curved TV. The grand prize is a Fiat 500 hatchback. The contest is open to all existing Sprint subscribers and the carrier has created a dedicated new page on its website for the purpose. Interested users will have to submit their applications via the new webpage, but customers can also increase their chances by “following @Sprint on Twitter and once per day tweeting a picture with the hashtag #SprintNationSweepstakes on where they’d take their new car”.

As for the results of the RootMetrics study that was released last month, it was actually Verizon that came out on top overall by leading in most categories in the RootMetrics RootScore report. However, Sprint believes that the study shows it is one of the most-improved carriers in the country, with as many as 212 first place finishes across various categories, which is a significant improvement over just 135 such distinctions in the second half of 2014. The carrier is also claiming that its LTE Plus network can hit real-world download speeds of over 100 Mbps “with compatible devices”, and to illustrate its point, the carrier is citing the Nielsen Mobile Performance Data, which it says proves that its LTE data speeds are consistently higher than its major competitors Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. To achieve such industry-leading speeds, Sprint says its LTE Plus network uses “the world’s most advanced technologies in wireless, such as two-channel carrier aggregation and antenna beamforming”.
