Chevy's 2017 Sonic is the Latest to Get Android Auto Support

The 2017 Chevrolet Sonic isn’t actually official just yet. The company will be debuting the new model at the New York Auto Show next week. The new model isn’t a big redesign over the previous 2016 model, like the Cruze and Spark have gotten recently. But there are plenty of differences here in this model. One being the new grille on the front. It lines up with what we have on the Spark and other small cars from Chevrolet, like the Bolt. It’s still going to be available in a four-door sedan or a 5-door hatchback, as the previous models were.

As far as engine options go, we have a 1.8-liter four-cylinder as well as a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine available. You’ll be able to choose between an automatic transmission or a manual. Pricing has not been unveiled just yet, as that will be known when the Sonic goes on sale in the fall.

The 2016 Chevrolet Sonic had Android Auto, and it’s returning in the 2017 model along with Apple CarPlay, along side GM’s OnStar system. The Sonic will use a 7-inch display for Android Auto, which is about the standard size for most cars these days with Android Auto. It also uses AT&T’s 4G LTE connectivity in the car, making it easy for you to use your car as a hotspot to connect other devices in the car. This is all part of Chevy’s MyLink Infotainment system, which is standard in all of their models that they offer up.

While the Sonic may not be Chevy’s most popular car, it is still a pretty popular one. Partially for it’s size, and also for it’s price. With the current model starting just north of $14,000, it’s one of the cheaper, yet powerful cars on the road right now. And having Android Auto included is pretty amazing. In fact, it’s one of the cheapest cars available with Android Auto, especially considering most other car makers are having customers pay for another package to bring in Android Auto to their car. Luckily, Chevy is not. Which is always a good thing. The 2017 Chevy Sonic will be on dealer lots some time this fall.
