I don’t know if you recall, but back in January, we talked about an exciting new company called CREO, and their upcoming smartphone and Android-based OS. This company secured $3 million in funding from Sequoia India, Beenext Ventures and India Quotient a while back. That money has been invested into the company’s project, and 70 people have been working on the Mark 1 smartphone, and the company’s operating system. Back in January, we promised that we’ll report back as soon as the company shares more info, so, read on.
The company did not exactly unveil their smartphone or operating system, but they did release an official video which shows off the Mark 1 handset, along with parts of the OS. CREO has used the ‘A New Phone Every Month’ caption in this video, and even though some of you might think this means that they’ll release a new device every month, that’s not the case. CREO only tried to highlight that their Mark 1 device will feel like a new phone every month due to its software support, or as CREO calls them, ‘quickfire updates’. Taking a look at the phone yourself, and you’ll notice that this is not exactly the thinnest device out there, and it seems to sport a metallic frame. The Mark 1 also sports three capacitive buttons below the display, and they’re circle-shaped. The side bezels aren’t all that thick at all, and it seems like all the physical buttons will be placed on the phone’s right-hand side. Interestingly enough, all those buttons seem to be round in shape, just like the capacitive buttons. There are two SIM trays on the left side fo the device, which probably suggests we’ll get not only dual-SIM capability here, but also microSD card expansion.
That is pretty much everything we know thus far. If you’d like to take a closer look at the phone and get a glimpse of its OS, check out the images in the gallery, and the video which is embedded below this article. CREO will probably release more info in the coming weeks, and we’ll make sure to let you know as soon as they do that.
