Sony has been working on their own virtual reality headset for quite some time. And given their experience in the gaming industry, many people were very excited to see what the company could throw together for the PlayStation VR. Now, we have a price for the PlayStation VR, which is $399 as was announced at Sony’s GDC (that’s Game Developer Conference) last night. Pre-Orders are now available for the Sony PlayStation VR, which actually comes in cheaper than the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, which are $799 and $699 respectively.
There’s been a ton of hype surrounding the Sony PlayStation VR as of late, and seeing as the initial pre-orders sold out in record fashion at many places. It may be quite the line for those still looking to get their hands on the PlayStation VR. But you can place a pre-order or at the very least get a place in line at a variety of retailers already. In the UK, you can pre-order at Game for £100 down payment (which may or may not be needed). Game is also offering up 28,000 reward points for purchasing the PlayStation VR. SimplyGames, also in the UK has the PlayStation VR up for pre-order right now. They are also doing payment plans through PayPal Credit so those that don’t want to pay for it in full can spread out payments over 12, 18 or 24 months.
Also in the UK, and the US, we have Gamestop offering up the PlayStation VR. Coming in at £349. While GameStop doesn’t actually have it listed on their US site just yet, it is on their UK site so it should be available for pre-order in the US very soon. And finally there is Amazon. It shows as “currently unavailable” over at Amazon, but should be back up pretty soon. With the huge number of people attempting to pre-order the PlayStation VR, it’s likely that they’ve run out pretty quickly and are in need of creating a list so those that want one can still get on the list for one.
