Last night, the teams were picked. All 68 teams that will be battling it out this month to see who is the National Champ for 2016. The First Four play begins tomorrow with eight teams vying for four spots, one in each region. The real action begins on Thursday as round one gets underway. We’ll have 32 games between Thursday and Friday, with an additional 16 on Saturday and Sunday to determine the Sweet 16. For every sports fan, this is the best month of the year, especially in terms of basketball. In the NBA, teams are coming down the final stretch as the season ends in mid-April. And in College, there are loads of games going on.
Just ahead of the start of March Madness, the NCAA March Madness app has seen it’s yearly update. The update is a pretty big one. Outside of getting you ready for this year’s action, we are also getting Google Cast support. So if you don’t have cable or satellite TV and want to watch the games on the big screen, you now can. You can cast any game to your Chromecast device straight through the app. Other items on the changelog include a redesigned, immersive live video experience on tablets, as well as standalone Coke Zero Social Arena experience for tablets. The app has expanded video on demand content and video playlists, finally, the NCAA March Madness Tournament Run is now available on both phones and tablets.
The tournament is sure to be full of surprises, and while Kansas, Oregon, Virginia and North Carolina are the number one seeds in each respective region, there’s always the possibility that they could get knocked out early on. Just look at Kentucky last year. Entering the tournament undefeated (something that doesn’t happen often) with a record of 35-0 and ending the season at 38-1 without a national championship. Just goes to show you that anything is possible. Luckily, every single game from the tournament can be streamed on your mobile device, whether it be a smartphone or a tablet. Definitely nice to have, especially with so many games taking place, virtually all day long.
