New Rumor Suggests Huawei P9 Will Arrive On April 6th

2015 was an amazing year for Huawei, a Chinese network infrastructure and electronics giant, as the company managed to hit the 3rd spot in global smartphone sales, having released some of the best Android smartphones and smartwatches of last year. To keep up this momentum, Huawei is hard in the works for their next flagship phones, and rumors about a Huawei P9 device have been circling around for a while. Said to be the successor of the Huawei P8, it was believed that Huawei would be unveiling the device on March 9th, but according to Huawei themselves, it won’t happen due to some technical problems. A new tweet from famous leaker Evan Blass, better known as @evleaks on Twitter, suggests the P9 will arrive on April 6th, exactly a month from now, so we are back in the game for Huawei’s next flagship.

The Huawei P9 will actually be composed of four different variants, ranging from a cheaper mid-range to an expensive phablet with monstrous hardware. The P9 itself will be powered by a Kirin 950 SoC, which is made by Huawei themselves and benchmark results have shown that it left current processors eating dust in raw performance. Coupled with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, the handset is said to feature a 5.2-inch screen with Full HD resolution. According to rumors, the cheaper version will be called P9 Lite and will come with a 5-inch display, a Snapdragon 650 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. Moving to the higher end part, there will be the P9 Max, with a Kirin 955 chipset and 4 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of ROM. The screen is said to be big at 6.2 inches, but other rumors point to a gigantic 6.8-inch size.

There’s also word on a fourth variant, which would be an enhanced version of the P9, with the same Kirin 955 SoC as the P9 Max and 4 GB of RAM coupled with 64 GB of storage. All the variants are said to feature a dual-camera setup and fingerprint scanners on the back. As for the prices, the P9 Lite is said to cost around $289, while the regular P9 will be priced at $473. The enhanced P9 will cost $565, and the P9 Max will come for $627, noting that these prices were based on Chinese values and it depends on exchange rates and market, but it gives us an idea of how much they will cost.
