The Galaxy J-series is one of the many smartphone lineups from Samsung Electronics, but unlike the Galaxy S-series handsets which represent the premium end of the spectrum with flagship devices that come with all the bells and whistles, the Galaxy J handsets are typically priced much lower, and are mostly targeted at prepaid users worldwide. The 2016 edition of the Galaxy J3 is one the newest members of the Galaxy J family from Samsung Electronics, and the company has already launched the device in China. The smartphone has also been launched on Boost and Virgin Mobile in the US earlier this month, while AT&T is also rumored to carry it on its network fairly soon. According to reports, Samsung is also expected to launch the handset in India by the end of this month.
However, China, India and the US are not the only markets that are expected to get the latest entry-level smartphone from Samsung. According to a report originally published on Wednesday, European residents looking for an affordable Samsung smartphone are in luck, as the continent is also slated to get the handset at some stage in the coming weeks, seeing as the product page for the device has gone live on the local Samsung websites of a number of European countries like the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. While the pricing hasn’t been revealed officially just as yet, at least one media outlet in Germany is indicating that it might be priced at €189 ($212) in the country, although that report cannot be independently verified at the moment. Also, there’s no indication if the pricing will hold in other European countries.
Taking a quick look at some of the key tech specs of the Galaxy J3 (2016), the device features a 5.0-inch 720p Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, and is powered by a quad-core CPU from Qualcomm. While there’s no word on the exact SoC that will be running the show under the hood, the listing on the Dutch site says that the CPU will be clocked at a frequency of 1.5 GHz. Meanwhile, Chinese version comes with the Snapdragon 410 and sports 1.5 GB of RAM. Internal storage varies from 8 GB to 16 GB depending on the market, but all versions have expansion slots that can accommodate microSD cards of up to 128 GB in capacity. There’s an 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a 5-mgapixel unit on the front, whereas the battery is rated at 2,600 mAh.
