Sponsored App Review: Lucktastic

Lucktastic is a lifestyle application that gives users an easy way to earn real cash and rewards simply by playing free scratch cards in the app. Just like real scratch cards you have to match up three of a kind of a specific picture on any particular card and if you do, you can win the associated cash or reward bonus, which could be a real money value or it could be a number of tokens. It’s a simple way to earn money and prizes without having to do much more in return than simply watching ads for each scratch card you want to interact with. There are of course other ways to win more but it’s completely optional.

Before you can get started with Lucktastic, you’ll need to head to the Play Store and download the app to install it, then you can begin playing daily free scratch cards for potential winnings.

Once installed, Lucktastic is easy to get started with. You’ll be run through a friendly tutorial of sorts which is just a handful of quick tips to acquaint you with what each part of the app interface does, but these are easy enough to skip if you wish. However, I found it useful to go through all of them as there weren’t too many and it helped me learn where everything was.

The meat of the application comes from the free to play scratch cards, of which there are quite a few and they reset daily. The prizes and cash you can win is instant so if you’re lucky enough to win some money, it dumps right into your in-app wallet and you can either stack it up or immediately have it paid out in a number of ways from gift cards to a check mailed out.

Aside from daily renewable scratch cards to play, there is also a daily reward that users get for logging in, and there will be certain scratch cards that unlock after certain requirements are met, like playing a certain amount of cards, or logging in after 5 days.

As mentioned above you can earn tokens in various ways, and these tokens can be used to either claim entries in the different contests, or they can be redeemed for instant rewards which are different gift card amounts for places like Amazon, Gamestop, Fandango, Regal Cinemas, and more.

While playing the scratch cards doesn’t require to register an account by signing up or signing in with Facebook, entering the contests, like the one for the $1 million prize will, with an option to either register by email or Facebook.

While most scratch cards will simply ask you to watch a short video ad, some will ask you to install an app to unlock it. These apps will be free of course, but they’re also optional and new scratch cards will appear the following day so you’ll have new opportunities to win.

While I generally don’t care for these types of apps, Lucktastic was pretty simple to use and didn’t feel invasive in any way. It took me about 20 minutes to go through all of the cards I was willing to do for the day, and I was able to just close out the app and wait for the reset. You can also set your push notifications to where you only get certain ones or you can turn them off completely if you don’t wish to receive any, and this can be accessed easily from the settings menu. All in all, Lucktastic is a decent way to potentially earn some cash and rewards just for playing these free scratch cards.

Ratings

  • Speed (4/5) – It only takes a few seconds for the app to load up and once you’re in everything feels pretty fluid.
  • Theme (4/5) – The application UI is decent and easy to navigate.
  • Features (4/5) – Lucktastic has plenty to offer without asking for too much in return. There are no in-app purchases required to play and there are more features coming.
  • Overall (4/5) – Decent little app and easy to use. If you don’t mind a few 15-second ads here and there, it’s worth it to potentially win some cash.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Multiple ways to win cash
  • Free scratch card games reset daily
  • Contests to enter

Cons

  • Contests require an email or Facebook login which some users may potentially not want to do, however, the registration is also necessary for contacting winners and is pretty quick and easy.

Overall, Lucktastic is kind of fun and really easy to use. You might spend 10 minutes or so going through the day’s free scratch cards and if you win something great, if not, you can close out the app and not touch it again until the following day. The possibility of contests is also a nice bonus so long as you’re ok with logging in either by email or Facebook. Lucktastic also lets you shop for products inside of the app with partners like Lyft and Joyus, allowing you to get discounts and save money along the way. If you like free rewards and potential cash prizes just for spending a few minutes a day watching ads to play quick games, the app is worth a look.
